One of the most fundamental skills we can embed in our students is the ways they can approach learning. By exploring different ways of learning, developing positive learning habits and becoming a confident learner, we are building crucial foundations in our students.

In nurturing and empowering successful learners, the school as adopted Prof Guy Claxton’s Building Learning Power framework, which focuses on explicitly teaching four areas of learning, which underpin successful learning and engagement.

  • Resilience: being ready, willing and able to immerse in learning
  • Resourcefulness: being ready, willing and able to learn in different ways
  • Reflectiveness: being ready, willing and able to become more strategic about learning
  • Reciprocity: being ready, willing and able to learn alone and with others

Within each of these four areas of learning, Claxton identifies key dispositions that, when developed, maximise learning power.
