We welcome parents from Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and surrounding regions to join us at our Community Information Evening on Thursday 21st August 2014 to learn more about our school and the unique flexible learning environment we will provide.
Once completed our school will offer an educational environment unlike any other in the Capital Region. Our building, due for completion in December, has been designed to create spaces which give students greater choices in learning and their interaction with others.
Flexible learning environments allow students and teachers to operate in a range of multi-disciplinary ways using a wider variety of teaching methods than are possible in a traditional classroom environment. Flexible learning encourages:
· Direct instruction
· Independent learning
· Project work
· Differentiation to cater for all students
· Social and collaborative learning
· Integrated curriculum/teaching
· Student-directed/teacher-directed learning
This type of environment give teachers more visibility and a stronger sense of what is occurring. Most importantly this gives teachers a greater understanding of each child’s individual way of learning and allows for richer connections, making pupil’s learning real and engaged.
We have chosen this style of learning because we want to create a culture that allow teams of teachers to work with students – teachers can share their own ideas more easily and interact with a wider variety of students, thus sharing their personal passion with a broader number of students.
Join us for our Community Information Evening. Parents will get a chance to speak directly to the principal and teachers and have any questions answered. It will also provide parents with the opportunity to see detailed plans and sketches of the school.
Date: Thursday 21st August
Location: Yellow Belly Café, Club Googong, Beltana Ave, Googong
