It’s hard to believe that our first school year has now concluded… and what a fantastic year it has been! We celebrated the achievements of our founding students at our Awards Ceremony yesterday, where each and every student was recognised with their Pioneer Award – an award that will not be given to any other student after this year.
We recognised our students with this special award because we believe that these extraordinary children are the pioneers of The Anglican School Googong. They have had to take the lead in creating this school and without them the school would not be what it is today.
As a teaching facility, we can provide the classrooms and some great resources in our wonderful teaching staff but these children are what really make the school – and it’s a school for which we should all be so proud.
We were very fortunate to have Cr Tim Overall, Mayor of Queanbeyan, present the Pioneer Awards to each student in recognition of their efforts in founding The Anglican School Googong. We also recognised a select number of students with the following awards, which were presented by the Chair of the School Board, Professor John Richards:
Douglas Mawson Award for Knowledge and Exploration
This award is presented to the student in each class who has taken our core aspiration to ‘Know and discover’ and put this into practice. They have taken the knowledge they have learnt and used this to explore the possibilities of what this could lead to.
|Kindergarten||Year 1||Year 2|
|Trystan Readman||Toby Howden||Zoë O’toole|
Connor McLeod Award for Great Ideas
This award is presented to the student in each class who has taken our core aspiration to ‘Understand and dream’ and come up with an idea to solve a problem they have seen. They wonder about the world around them; entertain possibilities; consider ideas and imagine widely.
|Kindergarten||Year 1||Year 2|
|Elliot Brown||Trigby Raine||Isis Nitschke – Stevenson|
Whole School Awards
Elizabeth Kenny Award for Christian Character and Service

This award is presented to one student from Kindergarten to Year 2 who has demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm and distinction in the Performing Arts both in the classroom and in the co-curricular life of the school.
Shane Gould Award for Sporting Achievement

On behalf of everyone at The Anglican School Googong, we wish you a very blessed and merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
