It’s hard to believe that our first school year has now concluded… and what a fantastic year it has been! We celebrated the achievements of our founding students at our Awards Ceremony yesterday, where each and every student was recognised with their Pioneer Award – an award that will not be given to any other student after this year.

We recognised our students with this special award because we believe that these extraordinary children are the pioneers of The Anglican School Googong. They have had to take the lead in creating this school and without them the school would not be what it is today.

As a teaching facility, we can provide the classrooms and some great resources in our wonderful teaching staff but these children are what really make the school – and it’s a school for which we should all be so proud.

We were very fortunate to have Cr Tim Overall, Mayor of Queanbeyan, present the Pioneer Awards to each student in recognition of their efforts in founding The Anglican School Googong. We also recognised a select number of students with the following awards, which were presented by the Chair of the School Board, Professor John Richards:

Class Awards

Douglas Mawson Award for Knowledge and Exploration

This award is presented to the student in each class who has taken our core aspiration to ‘Know and discover’ and put this into practice. They have taken the knowledge they have learnt and used this to explore the possibilities of what this could lead to.

Connor McLeod Award for Great Ideas

This award is presented to the student in each class who has taken our core aspiration to ‘Understand and dream’ and come up with an idea to solve a problem they have seen. They wonder about the world around them; entertain possibilities; consider ideas and imagine widely.

Whole School Awards

Elizabeth Kenny Award for Christian Character and Service

This award is presented to one student from Kindergarten to Year 2 who has demonstrated integrity and honesty in their interactions with others. This student has displayed servant leadership within the school and has clearly put the needs of others ahead of themselves.

Riley Howatson

Richard Tognetti Award for the Performing Arts

This award is presented to one student from Kindergarten to Year 2 who has demonstrated commitment, enthusiasm and distinction in the Performing Arts both in the classroom and in the co-curricular life of the school.

Mathilda Davies

Shane Gould Award for Sporting Achievement

This award is presented to one student from Kindergarten to Year 2 who has upheld the values of sportsmanship whilst achieving success across a number of sports.

Owen Willis

We would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every parent for your involvement and support this year. You have also played an instrumental role in the establishment of our school and we are so grateful for your continued support.
