Yesterday we were joined by our families, members of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn, Bishop Stuart Robinson, Mayor of Queanbeyan Tim Overall, Member for Monaro John Barilaro, Federal Member for Eden-Monaro Dr Peter Hendy and NSW Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson for our official opening.

It was wonderful to be joined by so many of the people who have supported us over the years from original concept to the completion of construction.

Our Foundation Principal Ian welcomed everyone and we were very fortunate to have Ngunawal Elder, Ruth Bell conduct the Welcome to Country ceremony.

Bishop Stuart Robinson delivered the welcoming and closing prayer. The Lord’s Prayer as presented by the children of The Anglican School Googong, proved to be one of the most heart-warming and memorable parts of the day.

A highlight for many at the ceremony was the presentation of the Aboriginal, Queanbeyan, NSW and Australian Flags to our first 4 enrolled students. We were also presented with a challis and paten for us to use when we celebrate communion together.

There was a true sense of community surrounding the event, marking an important moment in the school’s short history and one everyone wished to celebrate.
