Our new school year has started and we have enjoyed welcoming the many new families and their children to the school this year. Last year we started with just 33 students and we have the privilege of welcoming 32 new students and their families for our 2016 school year.
On Wednesday night, we had a wonderful evening with our family picnic on the oval. It was a tremendous way to start our new school year and see the excitement on the children’s faces as they met their new teachers and classmates.
As well as welcoming new students and staff we have also grown to now have Year 3. In welcoming our new students and staff we have people who have joined our community from near and far. Many, of course, have come from the local Googong and Queanbeyan communities but we have also welcomed families that have moved interstate and from overseas to join our Googong community.
We started our school year with our new prayer:
Prayer for Students
God of Light and Truth, thank you for giving our students a mind that can know and a heart that can love.
Help them to keep learning every day.
Let them be aware of your presence.
Encourage them when work is difficult and they are tempted to give up;
encourage them when their mind seems slow and the way forward is difficult.
Grant them the grace to put their mind to use exploring the world you have created, confident that in you there is wisdom.
Amen
